Cascades Sunset
These images of sunset on the Cascades tonight are from AAI friend and great photographer Keith Gunnar. These are taken from Keith's home on Whidbey Island, just a little south of Bellingham and Mt. Erie.
What is the name of the peak with the near-vertical north face, on the right side of the first and third shots? I have noticed it countless times while driving down I-5, but have never been able to identify it.
Hello--It's Mt. Baring. One of the greatest north faces in Washington. The best up-close view of it is from Barkley Lake, located on the north side of the peak. It's an easy and scenic forest hike to the lake. You look straight up at the north face. A great late spring hike.

ReplyDeleteThat's Mount Bearing, but it is on Highway 2...
