Mount Baker Skills and Climb

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of summiting Mt. Baker with a fun group of Canadians, one of which lives in Surry, BC and has been looking at this peak for many years. He decided that for his birthday he wanted to climb the mountain. So he did. Below are some photos from the weekend.

Damage to a rope by stepping on it either with or without crampons is greatly exaggerated. There have been multiple tests on ropes to see how different thing effect their strength. The only ones that seem to make any difference what so ever are cutting over a sharp edge under load and pouring acid on them. Other than that "ropes don't break!"

Great info - time for me to un-retire some ropes!
