Brotherhood of Skiing

Skiing is just so incredibly fun. Moving down the snow, linking turns, getting some speed, it is one of those things that just feels good.

Not everybody has the opportunity to ski. It's an expensive sport. And stereotypically, it is a very white sport. The REI film, "Brotherhood of Skiing" challenges that notion. It chronicles a ski club for African Americans that started in the early 70s that is still alive and active today.

But here's the thing about this short film... It does talk about some of the difficulties and stereotypes that have boxed minorities in in this country, but that's not what it's about. It is about the beauty and fun of skiing. But not just that, it is also about the pure joy of sharing the sport with friends and family.

This is a spectacular film. Enjoy!
