Misery in the Alps!

AAI's Alps guides Mike Powers and Tim Connelly have reported less than ideal conditions in the Alps earlier this week, with "as much snow as I have ever seen in the Alps during the summer" (M. Powers). Nonetheless, they have still been able to make plenty of ascents, which have made for exciting reports, such as Tim's most recent:

"In between waves of storms we quickly ascended through crevasses and snow-laden slopes to reach our first summit of the trip of Lachenal at 12,300 feet. Sensing the electrical build up we made for lower ground rather briskly."

Read the rest of Tim's report.

Check out our current news page, with dispatches, photos, and trip reports from the summer season.
